MyRate® Available to Georgia Drivers
January 19, 2009 — MyRate®, Progressive's optional, one-of-a kind, behavior-based car insurance program that gives drivers a personalized rate based on their driving habits, is now available in Georgia.
When drivers sign up for MyRate, they get a small device that plugs into their car and measures how they drive. Then, when they renew their policy, they could save up to 25 percent or more based on their driving habits. Cars driven less often, in less risky ways, and at less risky times of day get a discount.
- MyRate is available to Georgia drivers who purchase policies directly from Progressive online or by phone, or through its more than 2,700 independent agents in the state.
- Depending on how they buy, drivers could qualify for a first-term discount and be required to pay a $5 monthly technology fee.
- Drivers can log in to progressive.com anytime to review their driving data and see their projected discount.
- MyRate is voluntary, and drivers can opt out at any time.
- The MyRate device doesn't have GPS, so it doesn't track a driver's location.
- Progressive was the first to develop insurance based on driving habits. Its initial foray into usage-based insurance started in 1999 with a program called Autograph.
