MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio — February 16, 2004 — The Progressive group of insurance companies, the country's number one monoline commercial auto insurer, is pleased to announce its new "Hardworking Insurance" contest, designed to reward independent agents and brokers for quoting and selling Progressive Commercial Auto polices. The grand prize — a brand new, 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat Super Crew 4x4 pick up truck valued at over $36,000, plus an additional $10,000 in cash — will go to one lucky agent or broker chosen at random. The company will also award a number of additional prizes, including a $1,600 pre-paid fuel card and prepaid debit cards of various values, to randomly-selected agents who enter the contest.

Here's how the contest works:

  • Agents can register for the contest via Progressive's agency-dedicated Web site, ForAgentsOnly.com (FAO).
  • Registered agents then write as many new Progressive Commercial Auto policies as possible between March 1 and April 30, 2004 — each policy sold counts as one entry in the contest.
  • Progressive will announce the grand prizewinner on FAO during the week of May 10, 2004, and will announce the winners of the additional prizes on the Web site during each week of the contest.

"We hope a chance to win a new Ford F-150 will encourage agents to check out our program and rates," said Brian Silva, Progressive's Commercial Auto general manager. "Agents and business owners alike are attracted to our product for a wide range of vehicle uses and driver types, and our variety of payment options. And we know that vehicle 'down time' means money down the drain for business owners. So our 24/7 claims service provides fast, fair resolution of claims and helps customers get their vehicles back on the road as fast as possible. It really is 'hard working' insurance!"

Progressive specializes in writing small fleets, but will insure fleets of up to 20 vehicles and offer limits of up to $1 million. Progressive also offers customers flexible payment options — such as electronic funds transfer (EFT) or secure online payment processing via credit card or debit card. Progressive's Claims Service is available to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and features approximately 30 claims specialists throughout the country who focus exclusively on large truck claims.

Independent agents and brokers who sell Progressive can get more information about Progressive Commercial Auto and the company's "Hardworking Insurance" contest at ForAgentsOnly.com, or by contacting their Progressive Commercial Auto territory sales manager.

The Progressive group of insurance companies, in business since 1937, has offered commercial auto insurance since 1980. The company now ranks as the third largest commercial auto insurer overall in the US. The product is available to consumers in 42 states (the product is currently not available in Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, South Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia). The Progressive group is also the number one writer of personal auto insurance through independent agencies and a leading writer of personal motorcycle, RV and boat insurance. The company offers insurance through more than 30,000 independent insurance agencies throughout the US. Authorized agents can login to FAO to access customer policies, state and countrywide news, and other interactive features.
