MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio — April 23, 2004 —Progressive today announced that it will provide real-time rates via the Internet to independent agents and brokers who use AMS-Rackley's SETWrite system. The Progressive group of insurance companies is the number one writer of private passenger auto insurance through independent agencies countrywide, and is recognized as a leader in providing agency technology solutions that make it easy for agents to sell and service Progressive policies. Progressive actively works with technology vendors and agency user groups to provide increased access to real-time information via the Internet and technology that improves agency workflow.

Progressive will provide users of AMS-Rackley's new SETWrite online comparative rating system with real-time auto insurance rates from Progressive's server. This helps these agents be confident that the Progressive rates they view in SETWrite will be up-to-date and accurate. They will also be able to link to Progressive's agency-dedicated Web site, ForAgentsOnly.com (FAO), and complete the quote and sale without having to re-key the customer and vehicle information they entered in SETWrite.

"Progressive is pleased to again partner with AMS to help streamline agency workflow and increase agents' access to real-time information," said Chris Garson, Progressive's Agency Business IT Director. "These are two key ingredients in the mix of technology goals that will help independent agents and brokers stay competitive. Progressive is committed to working with vendors such as AMS and agency user groups to achieve these goals."

The company has been recognized many times for its commitment to helping improve agency workflow. Most recently, Progressive received two awards from Ebix, a leading international supplier of custom software and e-commerce solutions for the insurance industry. Ebix presented Progressive with its Carrier Award for leadership in the area of real-time technology implementation, while ANeu - the Ebix user's group, presented Progressive with their 2004 Company Partner of the Year Award, based on Progressive's leadership in developing real-time interface technology and support of download platforms.

All Progressive agents and brokers use the company's agency-dedicated Web site, ForAgentsOnly.com (FAO), to quickly and easily process endorsements, payments, policy cancellations, and access billing and policy and customer claims information. The company is also introducing an Internet-based quoting tool housed on the Web site. FAO quoting has been introduced in 19 states, and will be available agents who sell Progressive by the end of 2004. In addition:

  • AMS agency management system users can access real-time billing/policy information and complete endorsements for any Progressive policy they view through their AfW, Sagitta, or Prime system.
  • Applied agency management system users can make payments and access real-time policy information via IVANS Transformation Station TM.
  • DORIS users can access real-time policy and customer billing information via IVANS Transformation Station.

The Progressive group of insurance companies, in business since 1937, comprises the nation's third-largest auto insurance group overall and the number one writer of auto insurance through independent agents and brokers based on premium written. Independent agencies that represent Progressive combine the power of personalized service and counsel with Progressive's trusted brand, superior 24/7 service, innovative technology and competitive rates.
