Independent Insurance Agents Now Quoting Through Progressive's Agent-Dedicated Web Site
Company Offers New Functionality Through ForAgentsOnly.com
MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio — July 18, 2002 —Selling Progressive auto insurance just got faster and easier for independent agents. This is thanks to new functionality that lets agents quote and bind policies through Progressive's agent-dedicated Web site, ForAgentsOnly.com (FAO). The Progressive group of insurance companies (NYSE: PGR) is the country's number one writer of auto insurance through independent agents.
Progressive already provides agents with a wealth of other useful online functionality through FAO, including the ability to access policies, make payments, run reports, review claims, and manage referrals from the company. The company plans for FAO's quoting functionality to eventually replace its desktop-based ProRater® rating software. Although ProRater has been a very successful quoting platform for Progressive and the more than 30,000 independent agencies that represent the company across the country, quoting on FAO will give agents a number of additional benefits that the desktop-based software is not designed to provide, including:
- More accurate quotes more often. All rating software resides on Progressive's server, giving agents access to the most current rates.
- No need to store quotes or back up quote information. Agents will have direct, immediate access to information from Progressive's systems.
- No more time and energy spent installing the rating software. Agents simply access the rating software via the Internet.
Progressive launched Internet quoting with Ohio agents and expects to make the feature available countrywide by the end of the year.
The Progressive group of insurance companies, in business since 1937, comprise the nation's fourth largest auto insurance group. Independent agencies that represent Progressive combine the power of personalized service and counsel with Progressive's trusted brand, superior 24/7 service, innovative technology and competitive rates. The group's holding company, The Progressive Corporation, is publicly traded at NYSE: PGR.
